The Contronics drymist installation is able to create an ultra fine mist above the presented products. And that is noticeable.

Butcher Jeroen says: The customers clearly indicate …. (see website) that the products are much fresher since the drymist installation. In this way you also get more satisfaction from your work. You automatically start offering a wider range. It is true, the products do stay fresher for longer.

Another important point is that there is less or no weight loss and there are fewer meat products to throw away.  Doing something active about food waste and being able to sell more, this is really a win-win situation.

Ice build-up on equipment and pipes, the risk of refrigeration pipes snapping, i.e. the protection of their freezer cells, caused the managers of Seacon Production many headaches.

Lots of solutions were examined, but without consequence, because of either too drastic changes or too expensive.
Masterveil and Prodoor (Dutch partner) therefore faced a major challenge, sat together,and came up with a combination of an Airstop and a high-speed door as a solution.

The air curtain from Masterveil prevents air humidity from entering the freezer, the high-speed door from Prodoor ensures shorter open-close times than before.

Seacon Production is very satisfied with this extremely productive and effective combination, because the quality of their products is guaranteed, labor time is saved (less cleaning), and there will be a difference in energy consumption over time expected, without the risk of broken coolers.

Conclusion from a satisfied customer: “Awesome that it works, one less big worry!”

Invisible doors for energy-efficient temperature separation

“Our ambition is to halve our CO2 emissions per euro of turnover by no less than 50% compared to 2010,” says Erik-Jan Termaten, Energy Project Manager at Sligro Food Group Nederland BV “Limiting our electricity and gas consumption plays a crucial role in this. We pay particular attention to this in both our existing and new locations. ”

As an example Termaten mentions the 25,280 m² large new building in Deventer, which has been designed and built according to the BREEAM-NL “Outstanding” certification criteria.

Airstop and Powerstream

The Airstop and Powerstream solution can be fed from one fan. Moreover, it is possible to link various functionalities to the system. For example, Sligro in Deventer opted for active drying, which protects against even higher moisture loads. “We will soon also be introducing a 2.0 version of Powerstream, based on glycol and including heat recovery,” says Deweerdt. “This allows users to save even more energy.”

In addition to the distribution center in Deventer, Masterveil has recently also designed, produced and supplied the air curtains for the Sligro distribution centers in Maastricht, Breda, Vianen and Antwerp, which have been built and furnished in a similar way.

Extra air layer

Thanks to a special and proven high-pressure nozzle technology, the AIRSTOP air curtain from Masterveil ensures a permanent and dosed air flow that separates the various climate zones like an invisible door. “Powerstream takes this principle to an even higher level, by integrating an extra layer of air into the basic version,” says Deweerdt. “This further increases the efficiency of the basic system.” Powerstream has been specially developed for freezer cells. Instead of a horizontal or vertical air layer, the system uses special modules that blow from left to right and from right to left. Where the bottom module, in combination with the insulating air layer, controls the freezer cell, the load is kept neutral in the middle.

The top module also provides a targeted “separating” jet, in combination with an insulating air layer, and with a view to maximum protection against moisture and heat. “Thanks to the new technology, the main jet no longer needs to be conditioned. In addition, the modules together ensure lower air speeds, which not only makes it more pleasant to walk through the invisible partition, but also keeps energy consumption to a minimum. ”

New product combination

“Optimal separation is crucial, especially with deep-freeze cells,” says Deweerdt. “Not only to guarantee optimal temperature separation, but above all to prevent moisture entry and problems such as snow, fog and ice formation. After all, this can lead to significant energy and efficiency losses, high cleaning costs and even product or personal injury. With this in mind and in close collaboration with Sligro and the University of Ghent, we have carefully inventoried the conditions and processes in and around deep-freeze cells. This has led to the development of unique, slim, flexible and fully controllable Airstop and Powerstream setups, with which different temperature zones can be separated even more efficiently.

The various product combinations were of course also applied in Sligro’s new distribution center in Deventer, where we had to deal with two types of partitioning: between the cooled (4 ° C) and non-cooled areas (20 ° C) and between the cooled areas and freezer cells (-24 ° C). ”
